CHURCH / VILLAGE EVENTS

MARLDON APPLE PIE FAIR

The Marldon Apple Pie Fair has been traditionally held over the August Bank Holiday in Marldon since 1888 in memory of a local farmer, George Hill who each year would give the windfalls to his workers to make an enormous apple pie for the village. Nowadays there are a lot of smaller apple pies made and they are hidden under a big crust and a donkey cart pulls the big apple pie around the village. Also every year an Apple Pie Princess in crowned.

BERRY POMEROY CHURCH FETE

The Berry Pomeroy Church fete is everything you imagine when you think of a traditional English village fete, it is old England in all its gentility. Just think of the village fete scenes in the ITV series "Midsomer Murders" and you will know what I mean, though of course without the murders!
